"Importance of Encouragement and Support" | BFDI Health & Wellness Series

The "Importance of Encouragement and Support; A Word to and from Boys and Young Men of Color” video was made to encourage young men of color to seek support for their mental and emotional well-being, despite the environmental stressors in their surroundings, understanding how essential that support is to help them realize their goals and dreams.

 

“The Baity Family” | BFDI’s 2020 Virtual Fundraiser Gala

As one of five videos produced for BFDI’s 2020 Virtual Fundraiser, this video, specifically, showcased one family’s story of hope and growth in a community they’ve shared alongside Black Family Development, Inc. It follows their story of living in the Osborne Community, what roles they’ve played as leaders there, Jalyn’s success and story of becoming a mentor to young boys and men of color, and the importance that a strong foundation has in preparing young people, like Jalyn, for their future.

“Right Place at the Right Time” | Interview with Oscar-winning documentary filmmaker, Sue Marx

Sue Marx, Michigan native and Oscar award-winning documentary filmmaker, known for her Academy Award-Winning story of her father, "Young at Heart" and her award-winning documentary series, “Profiles in Black,” invited my team and me into her beautiful home one fall afternoon to talk over coffee and chocolate-chip cookies. We discussed everything from her life and how she became a storyteller, the role that luck and timing played in her success, and what’s always drawn her to share heart-warming stories.
